Dear Members and Friends,

The month of May has been full of activities for CEAI. Most of the Committees conducted at least two meetings and are moving ahead in their areas.

At the invitation of NHAI, I attended a workshop organized by them to promote e-BG and Insurance in lieu of paper BG. Trust that our members working in the highway sector would be making use of the facility.

The Ministry of Commerce is prepared to extend its support to expand and enhance the export of services, especially in the engineering consultancy Sector. As reported earlier CEAI is in the process of collecting details from members and organizing a workshop in association with SEPC.

Two webinars were organised – the first on the NATM Scissor Crossover for Mumbai Underground Metro and the second on Ethics and Integrity at the workplace. Both were appreciated by the audience and very well attended.

The Construction Law Course which will be held on weekends is set to start in June 2023. It has been welcomed by all.

It has been brought out earlier that the Hon’ble Minister of Road Transport and Highways has been showing his anguish regarding delays in projects due to lacunae in Detailed Project Reports (DPRs). CEAI is planning to organize in mid-June a workshop in association with the concerned authorities inviting all stakeholders to identify the issues and chalk out a road map for improving the quality of DPRs.

CEAI will organize an International Conference on “Rivers – Cleaning, Rejuvenation, and Sustainability” in December this year. CEAI looks forward to your active participation and support.

Consulting Engineers are requested to actively participate in the matters concerning the fraternity and be a part of the Association for that and pave the way for the development and growth of the country.

At the outset I would like to wish that all of you and your family stay safe and healthy during this onslaught of monsoon menaces in most parts of our country on top of the already stressed covid situations. It is strongly perceived and felt that the intensity of rainfall is increasing at a faster pace than the resilience, with number of interventions, in the built environment. Such are the effects of Global Climate Change being observed all around the world from Europe to USA and China to India. Therefore, we need to further accelerate our STEM efforts for sustainable and affordable solutions in tackling such impacts.
July has been a very busy month with two very thought provoking and important webinars delivered by Western Regional Centre of CEAI and Future Leaders Forum of CEAI. Besides these, CEAI also jointly hosted a day long technology Workshop on “BIM” for Highways & Roads, Railways, Energy and Water and Wastewater with Capricot Technology and AUTODESK.

…CEAI also participated in large number during the FIDIC ASPAC conference held of 30th July 2021. Amongst them were, Mr. Sudhir Dhawan, President -Elect FIDIC-ASPAC, Dr. Ajay Pradhan, President-CEAI, Dr S Chatterjee, Mr. Umesh Srivastava and Ms. Sayona Phillip, where Mr. Amitabha Ghoshal, Past President-CEAI delivered an impactful presentation on the new normal during COVID for Consulting Engineers.
